About your Facilitators:
Phil Valentine. In 2015, Phil finished a thruhike of the entire Appalachian Trail, a trek of 2,189.2 miles. It took 189 days and 6 pairs of boots. During that sacred time, Phil’s purpose in life became more precisely defined, to coach recovery. Recovery saved him from an early demise and brought to his tattered life. He learned that he’s a coach to the very core and feels blessed to put the two together – recovery and coaching. Phil started work at the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) in January 1999 and became the Executive Director of this recovery community organization in 2004. Phil has trained the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© dozens of times and modified, improved and adapted various recovery coach curricula. Phil is recognized as a recovery movement leader, a masterful facilitator and trainer.
Sandy Valentine is a person in long term recovery from alcoholism. She has over 30+ years of corporate experience in adult learning and professional development. In 2018, Sandy left her corporate career to join the family business – working with and for people seeking recovery from substance use disorders. She is a certified Recovery Coach Academy Facilitator, and received her Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) certification in 2019.
-Test Your Headset: You should test your headset in advance of your first class. Your instructor will give you a link to an Adobe Connect room for testing, which has instructions on how to run the Audio Setup Wizard and how to check your webcam if your class will be using it.
-PC: A USB-based microphone and headset seems to work best. We recommend the Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 or the Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset, but other standard microphone-headset arrangements are supported. If your computer has a built-in microphone that you wish to use, then you only need standard headphones or earbuds.
-Mac: If your Mac has a built-in microphone that you wish to use, then you only need standard headphones or earbuds. Otherwise, we recommend a USB headset, and recommend using the Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset, but other standard microphone/headset/earbud arrangements are supported.
